Imani E. Lewis, DDS, MS
Dr. Lewis is a leading expert with proven experience in all aspects of periodontics, implant surgery, periodontal plastic surgery, complex bone and soft tissue regeneration, laser periodontics (LANAP) and IV sedation. Dr. Lewis is recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
Dr. Lewis is one of the few dental professionals in the greater DC area certified to deliver IV sedation. The IV sedation services permit Dr. Lewis to provide more complex and advanced treatment options while maintaining a strong commitment to patient comfort and safety.
He is the recipient of numerous academic and achievement awards including being recognized every year since 2017 as a Top Dentist by Washingtonian Magazine. A firm believer in the role of technology and continuing education in improving patient outcomes, Dr. Lewis completes extensive continuing education every year. He is a leader in the dental profession in advancing education and serves as a commissioner for the Joint Commission of National Dental Examinations.
Dr. Lewis’ practice philosophy is to provide state of the art care in a warm, welcoming environment designed to alleviate the stress of undergoing a surgical procedure. Dr. Lewis and his team members pride themselves on treating patients with personalized attention to detail and compassion.
Dr. Lewis grew up in Detroit, Michigan and became passionate about the dental profession in high school where he was mentored and guided by experienced dentists as a student intern. While attending Morehouse College, he majored in biology and was a leader in the student dental society. He graduated from Morehouse Magna Cum Laude and was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Academic Honor Society.
Dr. Lewis continued his education at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. He was recognized by the faculty for excellence in clinical periodontics and patient care. Dr. Lewis continued his specialty training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH). There he earned both a Certificate of Advanced Study in Periodontology and Master of Science in Periodontology.
Dr. Lewis resides in Washington DC with his wife and three children. He is an active member of the DC community supporting his children’s sports and cultural activities. Dr. Lewis is active in the arts community nationally as an art collector and a board member and treasurer of the Romare Bearden Foundation, supporting the legacy of this influential American artist.
